traditional Buckaroo lifestyle, art and gear

The Buckaroo Hall of Fame and Heritage Museum honoring
Buckaroo Legends of the Great Basin was founded in 1989 by Carl F. Hammond
and is currently housed in the East Hall of the Convention Center in Winnemucca
Nevada. As of 2008 there are 85 inductees and memorabilia in the museum.
This museum preserves the Buckaroo Heritage of the Great Basin area (Eastern
Oregon, Northern Nevada, Southwest Idaho, Northwest Utah & Northern
California), where true legends of this great country live on. Legendary
Buckaroo inductees are known for skills relating to the "Buckaroo" life style;
old-style bronco riding, rawhide braiding, horseman skills (roping and cattle
handing), or cowboss for a big ranching outfit. Nominees must have worked
as a "Buckaroo" within the Great Basin area.

The Buckaroo Heritage Western Art
Roundup was founded in 1989 by Carl F. Hammond in conjuction with
the Buckaroo Hall of Fame. Buckaroo & Western Artists & Artisans
attend annually and exhibit their skills & wares relating to the "Buckaroo"
life style; rawhide braiding, silverwork, horsehair & leather gear, as
well as paintings, drawings & sculpture depicting the old Buckaroo lifestyle.
Western artists of all kinds are invited to show & sell at this
judged event but some of their work should reflect the theme of this Art
Show. Make plans now to attend this Art Show next Labor Day weekend in Nevada,
and join us for a wine tasting, banquet, and a benefit auction for the Buckaroo
Hall of Fame. |
